In game parks like Etosha National Park (Namibia), Okavango National Park (Botswana) and Matopos National Park (Zimbabwe) you can see a wide variety of animals. Most of the following pictures have been made during game drives through the Etosha National Park. Someone standing in the cabin of the truck, looking around to spot the wildlife, is the most unlucky of the bunch: the hot, dry wind makes it hard to breathe and dries your eyes.

Just at the beginning of a sunset ("booze") cruise on the Zambezi river (upstream near Vic Falls) we saw a group of elephants crossing the river.

In Etosha NP, there are many giraffes. The best place to see them is near a waterhole, where they usually drink.

Springboks and zebra's live in Etosha NP in large numbers. Sometimes you have to give them a horn to let them know they have to clear the road.

Although we saw many zebras, some of us did not get a chance to make a picture of two hugging zebras.

When something is dead somewhere, you see vultures flying in circles above the carcass. This time of day (6 am) is not a time to die, so this vulture is enjoying its leisure time.

This chameleon is just crossing the street in Okakuejo in Etosha NP. It performs the thermal dance for us: because the surface is very hot, it repeatedly lifts its feet before stepping onto it. Thus, it seems to do a break dance. Backward, forward, backward, forward...

Black and white yellow hornbill. When an game drive does not yield enough views of large mammals, you take your time to enjoy and admire the (smaller) birds in Etosha NP.

On the Namibian coastline lies Cape Cross. A seal colony, housing about 80,000 seals, is situated on the rocky Skeleton Coast. Here, due to the cold Atlantic current, it is only 15 degrees. Furthermore, 80,000 seals produce a devastating smell...

Caressing a rhino (Thunder, 6 months, in Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage near Bulawayo (Zimbabwe)) is very hard. Its baby skin is not really sensitive. Only touching its upper lip makes it enjoy this human company.
