The first highlight of the journey were Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Along this 1.6 kms long gorge, the Zambezi water falls 100 m down, forming the so called Boiling Pot.

See how relaxed I can sit on the edge of the gorge?

The rock engravings near Twyfelfontein in Damaraland, Namibia, were very impressive. Large rocks contain a lot of engravings. Outside Nessie it is very, very, hot.

Swakopmund is a holiday resort on the Namibian Coast. Down south is the Namib Desert. A sight on the sand dunes. The black stuff is not a shadow, but it is some black mineral.

The only way to go into the dune landscape by truck is the Sossusvlei near Sesriem, Namibia. This dry river bed is still very dry. We did not make it to the top of one of these dunes. Too hot, too late.

Fish River Canyon. 600 metres deep. It's just a hole in the ground, but it takes an hour's walk to go down and another two hours to go up again. The path has been marked with small stacks of rocks on another rock. The litre of water we took down was not enough.

Balancing rocks in Matopos National Park in Zimbabwe. This formation is called Mother and Child, because it (only the left two of three peaks) resembles a mother carrying her child in a cloth on her back.
